A Bit About Me

I'm Derya — Senior Art Director dreamer, and mostly a laugher, based in Düsseldorf.

I studied Graphic Design & Fine Arts at Yeditepe University, graduating top of my class with honors in 2018. Since then, I've been working in advertising across Turkey and Germany, contributing to brands like EA Sports, Elidor, KFC, Lipton, Volkswagen, got2b and Perwoll.

My work has been recognised at One Show, BEA World Awards, Future Lions, Epica, Felis, Crystal Apple and Kırmızı Awards.

I believe creativity is most powerful when it means something.

  • When I’m not making things, I’m usually somewhere between places — traveling, swimming, listening to music way too loud, eating something good, or hosting people at my tiny house, @deryagildeyiz.

    I collect stories, places, people and ideas.
    Somehow, they always find their way back into my work.

  • Every expat has said it at least once:

    “I swear I’m funnier in my own language.”

    Well… I have proof.

    In 2016, I somehow ended up on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? in Turkey, won a nice prize, laughed my way through the whole thing — and accidentally became a bit of an internet meme.
